BONOBO Bar & Canteen is a two-floor St John Street bar and canteen serving Detroit-style pizza, burgers, wings, cocktails and brunch packages, with games, screens, music and private-hire space.
BONOBO changes character by the hour. Earlier, it can be food, cocktails and a fairly easy group table. Later, the canteen bit gives way to the bar bit, and the upstairs space starts doing what upstairs spaces do.
The useful thing is that it does not pretend to be a cosy restaurant. It is a group-night tool: pizza, burgers, cocktails, brunch, screens, games, music and enough momentum to carry a birthday that was never going to end early.
