What it's like
Kahiki is the Watergate Row cocktail and live-music bar with tropical styling, late hours, bookable party energy, acoustic acts and a Chester menu built around signature cocktails, classics, shots, wine, beer and cider.
Kahiki is not subtle. The point is tropical theatre, cocktails with names that know exactly what they are doing, live music from Wednesday through Sunday, then a room that gets louder as the night grows up badly.
It works best when everyone has agreed the evening should become more colourful rather than more sensible. Early doors can be a fun cocktail stop on the Rows. Later, it is group-night territory with very little patience for whispering.
Worth knowing
Kahiki is fun when you want the night to tip into music, colour and cocktails. It is the wrong call for restraint, real ale, quiet talking or anyone secretly hoping the bar will become less itself.

- Dogs
- Do not assume dog-friendly, assistance dogs aside.
- Access

How to use it
- Eat first. Watergate Street and Bridge Street give you better food options, then Kahiki can take over when the meal has finished behaving.
- For a softer visit, go early, order one or two cocktails, and leave before the night decides to put its hands in the air.
- For birthdays and groups, book. The venue suits planned chaos better than a vague wander-in with twelve people.
- For live music, check the current showtime details before using it as the reason for the trip.
